thoughts:
I’m
writing this review as a “newbie” to the body boarding
world, because generally, if there is much surf, I end up on my
surfboard.The following is my experience
with the 48” Wave
Skater Pro.
I never
could really get into the body boarding thing in the
past – never was that impressed.I’ve
tried the typical “boogie” boards in various forms, none ever gave me
the
thrill I get on my surfboard.I have to
say, though, that after getting a chance to ride the Wave Skater and
Wave
Skater Pro, my opinion has changed.Body
boarding gives you a closer experience with the wave, and once you’ve
done a
bottom turn and felt the acceleration down the line on a Wave Skater
Pro, you
realize that you stall by just leaning back, and accelerate by leaning
forward.Because of the elbow channels,
it is very easy to reposition your body on the board. This ride is so responsive – and it turns so
easily!I weigh 190 pounds, yet the
slightest input and wow, I’m on the face and off the lip, over the
falls.Mind you, I haven’t spent a lot of
time – as a
matter of fact, I’m really a rank amateur to body boarding.
Kay’s
thoughts:
I’m
usually on the beach – mostly behind the camera. It
has
been
years since I swam regularly, and
I was never a big fan of body boards!A
few months ago, I got out our Wave Skaters on a beautiful warm and
sunny day at
the beach – and I spent a couple hours in the water – the most fun I’ve
had in
the water in years. You have to realize –
I was a water-baby growing up, loved to swim, but as I got older I just
got
away from it as I *hate* cold water, so the conditions have to be
really just
right for me to want to get into the ocean! So I haven’t yet tried
the Wave
Skater Pro.Our daughters are not surfers
nor experienced bodyboarders either, but they have both tried the new
Wave
Skater Pro and proclaimed it even better than the original – which
they’ve used
and loved for several years!
